Dr. Jan M Slomba, MD is a physician with specialty in the field of Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, and Interventional Pain Management. Dr. Slomba is also certified in Cryotherapy and Aesthetic Medicine. Dr. Slomba graduated from Marie-Curie Sklodowska Medical University of Lublin in Poland in 1991. Dr. Slomba completed General Surgery Program at Brown University of Rhode Island under leadership of Dr. William Cioffi, Residency in Anesthesiology, and Fellowship in Pain Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center under leadership of Dr. James E. Cottrell. After the Fellowship in Pain Medicine he started his career in Pain Medicine at Beth Israel Hospital in NYC under leadership of Dr. Russel Portenoy. Dr Slomba continued to excel as Attending Physician in the Pain Division of the Department of Pain Medicine and Palliative Care at Beth Israel Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine for 15 years. He has expertise in the treatment of complex pain problems including back and neck pain, sciatica, neuropathic/nerve injury pain, RSD/CRPS, central, post-stroke, and phantom limb pain, headaches, TMJ, trigeminal neuralgia, head, facial, and cancer pain. His treatment approach combines medication therapy, holistic and integrative medicine, rehabilitation, psychology, and other conservative strategies with a broad array of interventional treatments like joint, spinal/facet and epidural injections, Pulsed DRG and Thermo-radiofrequency ablations, Spinal Cord and Peripheral Nerve Stimulators, Sympathetic and Celiac Plexus Nerve Blocks, Peripheral Nerve Blocks and Liquid Nitrogen Cryotherapy for Pain Management using Kriosan technology endorsed by EULAR (European League Against Rheumatism). Dr. Slomba works closely with the Best Neurologists, Physiatrists, Orthopedic Surgeons, and Neuro-Surgeons in New York: Dr. Ezriel Kornel, Dr. Stephen Scelsa, Dr. Jonathan Gordon, and Dr. Michael Alaia. He has lectured and educated over 70 pain management and palliative care physician fellows at the Beth Israel Medical Center within the past 12 years of his academic faculty practice. He has been rated as the Best Anesthesiologist/Pain Medicine Specialist by RateMds.com in New York State since 2009 and ranked 29th Best Anesthesiologist in the US in 2014. In September 2014, he was awarded certificate of TOP 10 Best Specialist in Pain Medicine in the United States and the certificate of 5% Most Honored Physicians in the USA in 2017 by the American Registry. In September 2019, Dr. Slomba was honored as Top Pain Management Doctor by The New York Magazine.
